Guitar guru Scott "SVH" Von Heldt has just inked a deal with Ibanez Guitars! As the prolific lead guitarist for HEAD (former KoRn guitarist Brian Head Welch), and front man for such acts as Healer (also featuring members of White Zombie and Cirque du Soliel) and Kurai, SVH has long been admired by his peers. In Late 2008 he also released his first book entitled Mind Over Metal: The Musician's Guide to Mental Mastery. The deal will have Scott wielding his custom baritone guitars featuring the new Ibanez RGD body shape and killer camo finish! Kurai Frontman SVH and drummer Shawn Lowery recently reunited at the 2010 NAMM show after nearly 6 years! The two discussed future plans to resurrect the band (which also featured Matt Bennett on vox and guitar, and Rob Sledge on guitar and vox). No timeframe has been set for new material but SVH, Matt, and Shawn have been swapping tunes and working on demos for several months, and are ALL looking forward to making music together again in the near future! Scott "SVH" Von Heldt (lead guitarist for HEAD (ex-KoRn guitarist Brian Welch and author of Mind Over Metal), is currently accepting studio session work and/or local and regional gigs while HEAD regroups to focus on the next record. Singer and guitarist Scott Von Heldt (aka: SVH) joins a new breed of heavy music and offers up a glimpse into the future of the primitive. From entrancing tribal rhythms to unparalleled vocal incantations, SVH has long been admired by his peers and continues to push the envelope to create music with unrelenting passion and intensity. Scott broke out into the original metal scene of Northern Ohio at the age of 17 by releasing his first solo guitar record "To Each His Own". SVH went on to join local metal giants Vatican (later renamed Marquis de Sade) and soon became a local guitar legend with the release of his second solo record "Cries of Silence". In 1994 Scott gave his full attention to the formation of his new band Theater of Madness. The group went on to dominate the local music scene, releasing their debut CD "The Demo" and opening for national acts ranging from Quiet Riot, Slaughter, and LA Guns, to metal masters more in their vein such as Suffocation, Anthrax, and Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson. After many years of trudging through the trenches in search of a record company, Scott formed his own indie label Dead City Records and began work on Mantra, the debut from a new and improved version of his former band now named KURAI. Scott moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and went on to join Ivan de Prume (White Zombie) and Martin St. Pierre (Cirque du Soliel) in the creation of HEALER, a band combining the elements of World music with Modern Metal! The bands debut "Awakening" has been hailed as one of the most original CD's released this decade and continues to garnish rave reviews. SVH, recently lent his extreme vocal abilities to the SHEESH E.P. by LA thrash/funk quartet Baron Von Sloth. On Halloween 2008 Scott released his first book of the Mystic Art of Self-Discovery series entitled "Mind Over Metal". In March of '09 SVH joined HEAD; the band formed by former KoRn guitarist Brian "HEAD" Welch. The group is currently working on a new album. STATEMENT REGARDING THE CANCELLATION OF BRIAN "HEAD" WELCH SHOWS	Posted: Aug 22, 2009
The following statement has been released by HEAD's publicist: "Brian "Head" Welch became ill during the past few days, cutting short his August 19 concert in Modesto, CA. As he feels it would be unfair to his fans to appear less than 100%, he will be unable to complete this week's dates. Head wants everyone to know that he'll be fine and just needs to recuperate. His goal is to be well enough to perform at the August 27 Tucson and August 29 Las Vegas shows." SVH added the following to his Mind Over Metal social network site: "Hey everybody, thanks for the inquiries and prayers. We had some technical issues last night (which were all preceded by a few other issues here and there since the tour kicked off) and as they progressed it made the show more and more difficult on Head until he just finally had it and walked off. I said a few words to the crowd and in the end we just got hissed and booed at. I can honestly say that making the transition to the singer role in a band has been anything but easy for Brian. He's had constant equipment issues that make it even tougher to project when you can't hear yourself which leads to over exertion and fatigue. It just made the best sense at 3 a.m. to just take a few days to rest and a moment to reflect on how we can avoid further issues and I think we'll be ready to rock it again next week! SVH just returned from the winter NAMM convention that took place this past weekend in Anaheim CA. Some of the highlights for Scott where, seeing his new book Mind Over Metal featured in Singer & Musician magazine (it was the only book that made it into the product reviews for the NAMM issue too!), and seeing one of his idols (Opeth frontman Michael Akerfeldt) carrying his copy around the Hilton lobby all night! In addition to the successful promotion of Mind Over Metal, SVH spend some time sharing his thoughts and expertise at the Minarik Guitars booth. Scott would like to thank all who came out to support Minarik at NAMM and to the many who took interest in his music and his book!

SVH - rocked Room 5 at Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles this past Saturday, performing a collection of solo material, Healer and Kurai favorites and a few covers from some bands that influenced him like Tool & Korn, and talked about his new book Mind Over Metal. This show was Scott's first solo appearance in over 16 years about which he stated "I started playing out as a solo instrumental guitarist when I was 17 and shortly thereafter jumped right into a band and have been in various bands ever since, so this was a nice return to my beginnings and a great opportunity to put on a more intimate performance and share some of my life's Journey with some good friends"! Scott has been collaborating with Ivan de Prume on new material for a follow up release to Healers 2005 "Awakening". Both Scott and Ivan claim the new music is very different stylistically from their debut and is heavily laden with SVH's roots in extreme and doom metal and Ivan's background in hardcore and funk grooves. Die hard fans need not worry, there are still plenty of World elements in the mix! Also in the works is a full scale Kurai reunion album featuring ALL original members! The fellas have been sending tracks back and forth and creating layers of sonic STOMP that promise to out-thrash the bands debut "Mantra". Scott states "I am SO HAPPY to be writing music with my brothers again! We have a chemistry that goes beyond any band I've been involved in and so much of my life has been poured into our music!" SVH had recently added a few more rare and unreleased tunes to THE VOICE.Songs are: United, a song written a few weeks prior to 911 that later was released in Northern Ohio and sold to benefit victims of that tragedy. Within is a song written by Kurai member Matthew Bennett and given to SVH as a gift. Heat Miser/ Freeze Miser is a death metal rendition of the character theme songs from the animated Christmas classic "The Year Without a Santa Claus". Lastly, SVH did a rousing parody of the Classic Sisqo tune "The Thong Song" for a Howard Stern song parody contest. The tune is aptly titled "Lesbians In Thongs" CLICK THE VOICE and ENJOY!
